Weekend Projects

Well CJ has been at his grandparents for the weekend...and Jake has been watching Carah...so it been a weekend of making things happen! Made 4 dresses and 4 hair bows-check.

Chalked the tree on the wall in Carah's nursery...so I can paint it soon. Also hot glued green leaves onto the owl mobile...

And I painted a shelf that is going in her nursery too...it is drying in the garage.

HooRay for finally and almost finishing the nursery!!!
(All that is left: paint the tree, hang the shelf and find a dresser to go in her closet)

Luck of the Irish...

Happy Friday!

Homestudy is almost complete...we've turned in ALLLLLLL of our paperwork...we have one more meeting on Tuesday and then...our portion is finished!!! So we will be ready to show our profile...actually we got a call yesterday...and our profile might be seen by a birthmom very soon...she is due with a little girl in May...so time to make a little girlie quilt...yeah...if the situation doesn't work out for us...I have pregnant friends and cousins...this quilt will have a good home if it doesn't stay with us.

And I am going paint on the last coat shellac in this wardrobe to the nursery...did i mention it was FREE!!! At Jake's parent's church yardsale back in December...I saw this wardrobe outside...falling apart...I said "who's is this?"...they lady in charge said..."You want that?" (like who else in their right mind would)...I said "I sure do...I'll fix it up and put it in our nursery" She said "well you can have it" Jake rolled his eyes...he doesn't see things like I do...he can't picture it after a little TLC. Hubs is impressed with how well she looks...

Can't wait to put it in the nursery tomorrow!

Happenings

Let's see...after the stomach bug...I started working on our homestudy again...and since it has been nice outside I started working on CJ's new headboard that Jake and I found for $7.00...not sure what color I am going to paint it.

BEFORE

SANDED...now to decide if I am going to paint it red...probably. And see that wardrobe it is leaning on...I am working on it too...for the nursery...but thats another post.

Had a request come in for a shirt...

She stopped by yesterday to pick it up...Little doll isn't she...CJ had her turned into a super hero in no time!

Fall Has Fell

Got a letter from HomeOwners Association..."Please paint your fence" Ug. Call retired Fire Captain Father-In-Law who did paint contracting on the side..."Papa...please come tell us what to do and bring the stain"

Oh and Nana had a birthday...in October...so we made her a few things...

The pocket on the travel dirty clothes bag was the free swatch from Spoonflower...

Happy Crafting...what are you making these days...especially for Christmas presents?

A Big Canvas

My largest canvas ever...took a group to paint...in my garage...

It was actually a backdrop...

for Kids Zone at our old church.

My design...is a depiction of...life before and after experiencing the transforming power of Jesus.

Putting it to use...

So no...I'm not new to painting...but I'm still a beginner.

Christmas Tree Painting

Last night Denita and I ventured over to Sips and Stroke and painted a Christmas Tree and Ornament canvas. Loved it! They have several great paintings that we want to go back and paint! They also are offering a few $20.00 classes (and she gave out $5.00 off coupons last night as well!!!) You know how I like a good deal.

Here is the website...

Sips N Strokes

Here is the picture we were suppose to be painting:

And mine...is more blue than aqua...because I decorate with lots of royal blue...

Pizza Paint

The cardboard circles that frozen pizzas come on...make great little painting canvases for kids...so cook one up tomorrow and let the kids paint while its cooking.

And you can't tell by his lack of smiles...but he was so excited to wear one of my old tshirts...

Adamantly only wanting to paint on the left side of the canvas...what does that mean?

Pumpkin Cupcake

Why now? I don't know. Seriously, Halloween already? I have been debating since Sunday on getting out the "Fall" Decor...possibly tomorrow. So anywho...onto what I've been painting here and there for the last two days...Mom gave me this frame thing from Caffco Floral Outlet (so it cost about $3 or less)...6 months, a year ago? And I've had plans to paint a Halloween cupcake on it (we are not into black cats, witches and spooky stuff for Halloween...we like cutsie pumpkins, leaves and candy corn decor)...And now that I've painted daisies ona canvas and a tree on a vase...I guess I have been in the painting mood. So here she is:

Does it look yummy enough to eat?

Painting Pottery in PC

Brittany and I had never been to paint pottery...we've always wanted to...but never made it happen...so we talked the hubbies into keeping the boys one day while we went and tried it out. If you have never been and are going to try it...please plan 3 hours to paint a small piece...

Pick your piece...

And paints...

and smack your gum vigorusly as you begin painting...after base coat...draw on a design...

Blowdry piece between each coat of paint...and paint some more...

Sing along with every song on the radio...(Britt)

3 hours later...you will be finished and ready to fire...

Pick up the next day!

Dear family...what ceramic piece would you like for Christmas?...cauze we are going back...we LOVED it!!!

Oh and if you would like to contribute to the "Corrie and Brittany Please Get a Haircut Fund"...let me know.

Painted my Daisy Heart Out

Have you tried one of these little paint a canvas classes yet? I was scheduled to go this coming week on Tuesday night(August 18th) with some girlfriends...but somebody forgot it was somebody's birthday festival...so I think we are rescheduling...None the less...C and I went to mom and dad's this week and she had signed me up for one on Thursday night...so I went by myself in downtown Wetumpka.

(Don't let the name fool you its nothing bad...) Their site:
Wetumpka After Dark

Loved it! Just as mom suspected I would. The painting we were looking at was this...

But mine turned out like this...

I like the more Pop Art/Folk Art feel...so I went HEAVY on my black accents and kept my flowers...awake? And painted my taped off lines black too.

Thank you Mom!

Ps. This is a great Christmas present idea (for me).
