Re-Think the brown scarf..

Ok...I was looking through my ETSY favorites...and saw this...

ClickIt Green Collar in Etsy Shoppe iLE AiYE

...which sparked the idea...why not sew the ends together of the brown scarf I just made(on Monday scroll down to see it)...and wrap it around my neck twice

What? Oh now you want one... Another thought this would be easy to do with an old sweater...cut a sleeve off...sew the ends together...same look. And I am getting some leather from Michael's (with my Christmas giftcard) to add on the little strap...

I bet your Grandma didn't make you one of these for Christmas!

Doggie Blanket

You know when you take a dog to be groomed and they come home with a little bandana around their neck...well a friend of mine has been saving these...and ask me to make her little "Tango" a blanket out of them...cute idea...I'll keep you posted.

Perhaps the final product will look something like this:
Kindred Crafters Pinwheel Quilt

A Little Blue Hat

Another attempted little project...this hat just needs 2 little puffs and a baby boy...

Brown Scarf

2nd attempt...looks a bit like a dog chewed on the ends...but my kit didn't have any knitting needles...so I did the best I could...AND let me say I HAVE NEVER KNITTED BEFORE!!!

Knitting Machine

My sister got me the coolest Christmas present...a knitting machine...it's for ages 6 and up (I qualified by a mere 24 years...! And can skip the step where it says ask a grown up to help you with the scissors)
I opened it up an hour ago...read the directions and literally CRANKED out my first scarf in less than an hour...(please ignore my no makeup and fleece jacket over my pj's...we did go to Dunkin Donuts drive thru like this at 10:00 a.m.)

I'm trying with non-fuzzy brown yard after I switch the clothes over in the laundry room. I'll keep you posted!

Merry Christmas 2009! ! !

Luke 2:1-11
1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3And everyone went to his own town to register. 4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. 8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

May you rest in the peace and hope that was sent to save us on Christmas.

Hockey

Can you spell rotten? C-J. A co-worker gave Jake his Thrashers tickets for the game last night so he took his brother who played/loves hockey and they took C.J. Nana and Papa sent money to buy him a jersey...and Jake bought him a stick...did somebody forget Christmas is this week? Of course C cried cause we wouldn't let him sleep in his jersey...and of course he ask to put it on as soon as he woke up this morning...life in the good lane is being the only grandchild on both sides.

And X-nah on the haircut today...since he coughed ALL night again...I will spare you hairdresser.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town...

No line yesterday...well one crying baby girl in front of us...weekday lunch time...before school is out...is the key...
He told Santa he wants a Handy Manny tv, Handy Manny dvd and a candy cane.
I think this Santa is the prettiest (set-up included) in the Metro...I've been to 4 malls over the years...this is C.J.'s 2nd time with this Santa...
Nobody told C to clasp his hands...he does this when he is nervous and excited...
I did debate a haircut prior...didn't make it happen.
And the actual $24 picture where they are both looking at the camera...is not pictured (but it is a great picture!)...it's sitting here so I can take it to Walgreens and make copies for G-Parents, uncles and aunt.

Now You See It?

Ok...it is pinned and ready for a final stitch around...this will sew the liner to the bag and attach the handles in one big circular motion. Who is this for? Oh yeah...I still am not sure...oh well time to go see Santa at the crazy Mall....Say Cheese.

Ps...once again fabric is by Jennifer Paganelli...cause she always gets a plug from me.

PSS...Mom claimed the bag as her birthday present...it was intended for her...just not like I wanted...since I was distracted and sewed the corners at 5 inches...making this bag...square on the bottom...and not the right layout for 6 large pockets which I think makes for a good big Weekender bag. Anywho...

Brown & Turquoise

Back in the saddle again...finally...working on a Jennifer Paganelli bag...sewing machine feels like it needs oil? It is just not running very smooth? Rented a free Redbox movie for C so I could sew...and I got what I paid for a movie that skips so bad I have no idea what it is about...Hotel for Dogs. Oh well no money lost.

(Thats one lined bag, an outside pocket, 2 ruffles and 2 straps...in the works...so 30 minutes of ironing and sewing today and finito...new bag...for who? I'm not even sure yet? Really? Really. See it is just not as big as I wanted it to be for someones birthday present...so...Urg. I got a little carried away on my triangles...now it's more Tote than Weekender...)

The Christmas Decor

So the decor is out and up for the most part...this tree needs a skirt...and of course I want to make it myself...but not this year...not before Christmas...seriously don't we all have last minute shopping to squeeze in and then a million presents to wrap...
The stockings were hung by the chimney (that has NEVER been used in the 4.5 years that we have lived here...so no worries of dirtying your suit here Santa) with care...
And a new addition to the Christmas traditions...Elf on the Shelf...C quickly named him "Frost"...

And my pretty old angel...have I told you her story?...HA...I tell it to Jake once a week...just to get on his nerves...it starts like this: "I was working at Our Father's House Florist in Fayetteville...I LOVED working there...Miss Maddie was the coolest boss...she was always cooking for us and letting us decorate...and Kelly and Tovah and Kristi were the best to hang out with after school and unwind with and laugh and laugh and laugh with... "
So back to that tree skirt...I got to thinking...Hmmm I have some Jennifer Paganelli Casey Scroll fabric that looks kinda red-orange...I wonder how it would work...
Oh yeah...I think it works quite WELL!!!! So I spread that fabric open and...
Oh yeah...I am not making a tree skirt...ever? I'll just lay this pretty little 2 yards of fabric out.
Casey Scroll Rocks. Thanks Jennifer...I love you. Merry Christmas...

Reindeer Sandwiches

Want an easy, cute little lunch for the holidays...I found this in one of my cookbooks for kids...

Today I made it...PB&J with raisins for eyes, a smashed gummy for a nose, Dorito antlers...C loves carrots so...having the reindeer eat them was just a bonus...
He liked it.
As you can tell by the peanut butter schmeared face...
And the raisins went quickly so the reindeer soon had carrot eyes...
And Avery stayed close by in hopes of catching flying peanut butter crumbs...
Happy Lunching...

Flu

This is a bad camera phone pic...but he doesn't look much better in person. Wednesday he woke up from his 3 hour nap with a fever out of the blue of 102.9...and didn't want to get up. Tylenol didn't touch the fever...by 7:30 I decided to take him to Children's Health Care of Atlanta...cause...he is never sick with more than a cold...his last antibiotics...were when he was in the NICU almost 3 years ago. The doc at Children's said it is a virus. He slept from 11:00p.m. to 12:55 a.m...we watched cartoons until 4 a.m. and he finally fell asleep until 8:30 a.m. when I woke him up and took him to his regular doctor because a fever at 103.9 with Motrin not taking it down any was just not good enough for me. Dr. Dixon...always so good and sweet said he could tell by his red puffy bloodshot eyes that it was the flu...but he wanted to test to be sure...10 minutes later...POSITIVE test for the flu...so off we go to Walgreens to get TamiFlu...and they didn't have any...luckily a mom and pop pharmacy did...(I'd never been there but boy-howdie they have a huge selection of the cutest gifts...so I will go back to Christmas shop!!!)

So here is the deal...on the Children's Health Care of Atlanta website...they say "we will not test for the flu...because everybody has it". Tried and true they will not...

You know because infertility is so fun with the drugs that make you crabby and the blood work and ultrasounds...And then it was so fun being in labor from 30 weeks on...with real contractions not the fake ones they talk about in birthing class...literally I sat in birthing class and said "is it ok if...breath breath breath they are like 10 minutes apart this early?"...you know go to the hospital the day after my baby shower....go home...go to the hospital...stay a few days...go home...go to the hospital...get put on bed rest...go to the hospital...have a premature baby...that can barely breathe on his on for the 1st 30 plus minutes of his life...hey whatever it takes right! It was ALL worth it...and so we try again...Pray for me as we truly try and have another Miracle Baby.

We had a pretty little picnic on the square yesterday after a Dino-rrific time at the library...
