My Muffin Man

We have been out of sorts. My typically wild and crazy Muffin Man (he calls himself "I the Muffin Man") has been running a fever around 102 degrees...

Near the end of his 3 hour??? nap yesterday I found him...like this...I guess he was ready to get up...but was too tired. Poor baby. I scooped him up into my arms and let him wake up on his time.

So I moved the sewing machine into the living room and quitely pieced a scrap collage pillow.

And started a few fabric belts. (inspired by Bari J. http://www.flickr.com/photos/barij/2477402818/)

Craft Closet Organized

The Georgia Tech Office closet...aka my craft room.

Paul Frank Scrub Shirt...still waiting to be made into bathroom curtain when I redo a kids bathroom.

Walls of inspiration and fun.

Colorful neatly arranged shelves.

Note the white glass house full of Yo Yo's

Come on in. My craft closet is now organized. I need to hang a few pictures...but things are in place. Last week when mom was here we straightened it out. And while I always have hopes of sitting in here and sewing...it always ends up happening in the kitchen so Ba-Boo can play. Please over look the duct tape on the gift bag full of bags. I am southern girl after all...duct tape is in almost every drawer. (My favorite part is the white glass house full of fabric Yo Yo's that my mom made many years ago...they are spilling out and now visible...so I will use them!)

Thank you MOM! ! !

I still need to show all the treats she got me at the fabric store that was closing.

Watermelon Entry

The 3rd and final watermelon wrist pincushion. It will be entered into the contest. Not a perfect round juicy watermelon...just an edgy version...and a cute one at that.

Accident

Did I just come up with a great idea on accident? What percentage of good ideas happen this way? I was making a gift for someone and it turned into...BAm...here is a place to display my fabric brooches. Do you want a brooch? I bet I have your state...and Norfolk how about a Nebraska one for you?

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Buffalo Chicken Dip
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup ranch dressing
1/3 cup buffalo wing sauce
2 tablespoons water
1 1/2 cups shredded cooked chicken breast
1 cup shredded reduced-fat Colby-Monterey Jack cheese blend or reduced-fat Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
2 tablespoons chopped green onions (2 medium)
Whole grain crackers or celery sticks, if desired

1 Heat oven to 350°F. In medium bowl, beat cream cheese with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Beat in dressing, buffalo wing sauce and water until blended. Stir in chicken and cheese. Spread in ungreased 1-quart baking dish or 9-inch pie plate; cover with foil.
2 Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Stir; top with onions. Serve hot with crackers or celery sticks.

Notes by Corrie…I used regular cheddar cheese, more chicken….and no onions. Also you can use low fat stuff or blue cheese dressing. I made this dip for the first time on Saturday and took it to a cook out. They ate it up! Next time I will use Colby-Monterey Jack. And a vidalia onion.

Package in the Mail

My package arrived today from The Company Store...remember $10.97 for 3 sheets to back quilts with. I started one of them today...all 3 of these quilts remain nameless...for now.

GA Aquarium in March

Oh wow...slam jam packed at the GA Aquarium today! ! ! We went on mommy and me passes again. Totally different from when we went in December...and nobody was there...is it spring break or something? We still had fun.

The link to the deal is here...which ends on March 31st. $20.00 for an adult with a child (up to 4 kids) and this includes free parking. And the website says you can't take your lunch...but we saw lots of sandwiches coming out of diaper bags...one mom said she hide theirs in an empty baby wipe box ;)

The RoyGBv Quilt

The RoyGBv quilt is complete. It only took about 20 minutes to sew the edging on...so why did I wait 2 weeks to do it? I get nervous and don't want to screw it up...and I didn't. She is loud and she is proud...that RoyGBv Quilt. She is full of black and white to stimulate a baby girls new eyes. Measurements are only 32 by 32 inches...and I have not washed it yet. Hooray for my first wonky quilt full of swirly girly goodness! I guess I'll put it up for sale in the Etsy shop. And as always...if you know I am coming to your baby shower and you'd like this quilt...just let me know. Things are made and when they do not sell...they are then pulled and given as gifts. So the shop is like a gift stash.

Ps Dear Sarah at House of Krom...Thank you for again for teaching me how to do this wonky thing! I love going wonky. http://thehouseofkrom.blogspot.com/

Let's Face It

Alright guys...moment of truth. We are the new faces of America. We are part of the economic plunge. We are LAID OFF (I was a stay at home mom...will I go back to work now?). We've seen it coming for 6 months. And Friday it happened. Jake was cut...along with several other good hardworking people in his company. This was round 3 of layoffs and some shops are now closing. And after 3 pay cuts over the last 8 months...we were hit with the dodge ball. So we live on what we have...I've been couponing/thrift store shopping for 2 years...we have no credit card debit...we are sending resumes and going to make the best of our Stay-cation. Like parks, picnics, the zoo, the aquarium...and whatever else is free. Welcome to the bigger than the great depression depression.

(We took this picture Saturday a.m. at the free Touch-A-Truck event. And laughed about all the fun things we are going to do in the mean time.)

Keep your chin up...and pray. That is the best thing we can do.

Kate was Kate

I'll keep it short and sweet about seeing Kate Gosselin on Friday night. Kate was SO Kate. She came out with a quick wave like she was embarrassed to be there...she spoke about the 6 segments in her book Multiple Blessings (which I have not read). At the end she cried because she had not seen the kids in a few days....answered a few questions...and said thats it did a quick wave and walked out. She said they do public speaking engagements because TLC edits out pretty much all of their FAITH...and God ask her if she would be open to this. She obviously told him yes. She made cracks on herself...about being a planner, OCD, etc. She is thinner...the tv does add 10 pounds...but she has also been working out every morning. She did not make reference to rumors of her and Jon "not being in a good place"...as seen on the commercials for an upcoming show. She did say it had become too taxing for both her and Jon to be gone at the same time...on the speaking and book tour.

God love her...I think they are trying to do what they can to provide for their kids...yeah they are on tv...and yeah it will help pay for tuition for preschool through college. I don't knock her.

We girls who went...leaving our boys at home on a play date...enjoyed Krispy Kreme donuts (4,5,6 a piece!!!) for dinner prior to the event! Rock on! We never do that! We had a GREAT time.

Tonight...Kate Gosselin

OH...tonight...going with girlfriends to see Kate Gosselin (Jon and Kate plus Ei8ht).

Do you have any questions for her? Perhaps rumors of divorce will be put to rest? I certainly hope so!!! Though perhaps she should see someone about her...control issues. I'll let you know.

Watermelon Pincushion?

So I am trying to make a Watermelon Wrist Pincushion to enter into a Robert Kaufman Fabric contest (that I heard about on Twitter). The winner receives $250.00 in fabric...and their Etsy store will be published with pictures of the winning fruit...in ads to span the USA/World!?! And well my watermelons so far are UGLY MONKEYS. The first is too tight (even for my little wrist) not to mention wonky and the second...I sewed in the wrong spot...but thought about it and tried it as a ponytail band...and taking pictures of a ponytail behind your head...is quite difficult. So perhaps I have come up with a cute idea for little girls ponytail band in the process...now back to the drawing table.

Want to enter the contest too? Details are here:
http://www.robertkaufman.com/contest/

If you win...you owe me some fat quarters of your new fabric!

Norfolk, Nebraska

Dear Norfolk, Nebraska Blog Reader,

Oh friend in a far away land...I know you are out there. Please tell me about yourself and how you stumbled in and why you keep coming back (yeah!). You are a faithful reader.

I will reward you by sending you a floral brooch.

Thank you!
Corrie

Easter Signs

Oh and I got these cute signs at the Dollar Tree....yes $1.00 each!

Its beginning to look alot like Easter

It's beginning to look alot like Easter. So pastels are not my favorite...but they will do for now. Today while Meme and C.J. rested on the couch (No nap today...) I decorated for Easter! I had these pink cloth napkins that I do not use...so I made a "ruffle" by taping them onto the mantel. And well that is that. Splish Splash...Pish Posh...enough. (click on pics for more detail) Fake Chocolate bunnies etc pic is horrible...I'll work on that...because the are super super cute in person. Sorry.

Cleaning Closets

It needs to be done. I want to be more crafty...so cleaning and organizing...must happen. (It wasn't horrible terrible...it just all needs a place and a label.) So up stairs...left room...guest room...threw away 2 huge bags of trash...like gift bags and tissue paper...that I do not need SO much? Still needs work...room is/was clean and the closet still screams for help (it is full of home decor...where do I put this stuff...mirrors, shelves, picture frames, bowls, fake greenery)!

Room on the right...the office and it's closet...my sewing/craft closet. Cleaning it out...going through 401K papers etc...old college folders...why do I still have this crap? Well I don't anymore. It is not totally ready for viewing yet either. But big strides have been made.

C.J. spotted one of my old running medals hanging in my trophy room/craft closet. Yeah...I use to run...cross country...by choice.

(Oh and that Lee University chair is not stolen...Jake just borrowed it for his kids to use...and then they'll return it to campus one day. Shhhhh.)
