Tuesday at the Space Center

Ok...the first building of the Davidson Space Center is loud...with the sound of a shuttle taking off...so guess who was scared for the rest of the day...yeah. He either wants to ride in the stroller with a death grip on it or for me to carry him (while I push the empty stroller...mind you Jake was at work)...thus the non-smiley faces...when I made him get out and take a pic.

33 pounds...or 5 Moon pounds.

Pacifiers are required for scared astronauts.

"hey Mom this is a pretend spaceship" (and a good closed in stinky place to poop)

This tag was on the car parked beside us in the parking lot...perfect!

Hotel in Huntsville

So Sunday we arrived in Huntsville...C.J. ate it all up...life in a hotel for a 2.5 year old is just cool...riding on the cart...blowing his hair in the A/C...sleeping in a castle...jumping on the bed...Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in the lobby...continental breakfast...the pool...walking to dinner...playing with the buttons on the A/C...even asking to eat a peanut butter sandwich in the room for lunch rather than going out-just to stay in the room...he had fun! Oh and he finally learned to hold up just 2 fingers and say "I'm 2 3 and a half" I read and read and read...Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. We roamed the aisles of Super Target, hit up the Space Museum and enjoyed not cleaning or cooking for a few days, while Jake worked on an install at Redstone Arsenal.

Senior Olympics draws 1,600 competitors

This is a news story from the Tennessean Thursday July 23, 2009...the 96 year old man is MY Great-Grandfather Granddaddy Jones, he's a character and still as sharp as a tack. (The pictures are from his birthday party/family reunion in the fall of 2008...notice the bowling cake...and we bought him a Wii...so he could bowl with his friends at the senior center...how fun is that! Bowling is only one of the sports he competes in...shuffle board, javelin, shot put, etc.):

The Tennessee Senior Olympics state finals, which end today, drew 1,600 competitors to Williamson County.

"That's good for us on what we call a non-qualifying year (for nationals), so we're excited about that," executive director Christine Dewbre said. "Every other year they can get to a Senior National Olympics. It's probably our second-best non-qualifying year ever."

Bowling, volleyball and basketball posted the highest participation numbers.

"Our oldest guy (Robert Jones) this year was 96," Dewbre said. "He's a bowler who is from the Jackson area."

Jones carried the Senior Olympics torch into a party on Monday. In past years, the Senior Olympics have had two 100-year-old competitors.

"The best thing about the Senior Olympics is that it truly changes people's lives," Dewbre said. "It keeps them active, it keeps them healthy. It works."

Huntsville

Oh wow...have we been out of town AGAIN already? Yeah...for 3 days...and I finally got my camera back Saturday...and Cas made me a new camera strap cover with Georgia Tech Fabric...so cute! So of course hubbie had to take it to work today...Really? Not to show off the new strap...just for work pics. So when can we get back into normal sewing, blogging, toddler playdate mode? Yeah..and I broke my sewing machine AGAIN Saturday! And am taking it for repair today...though hubbie did say "do you just need a New sewing machine?" REALLY?!?!? Do I ever ask him if he needs a new softball bat? Uh...NO!!!!! I guess I should start researching them! So drop me a line if you would...about what kind of machine I should get...remember I free motion A lot.

Ps. The pic is one hubbie snuck on his cell phone while inside Redstone Arsenal where he has been working.

Myrtle Myrtle

(My camera...should be coming in the mail today...Cass took it to NYC...so these pics are borrowed from Flickr...) So...we made a quick little trip...somewhere on this map...

Oh...to Myrtle Beach...Garden City to be exact...to play here on this colorful beach...C is a beach baby stuck in the ATL...he rolls in the sand...he jumps in the water...he pretends to be surfing...and he totally tunes everything else out...

And stick our feet in this sand and catch up a bit in Eclipse...ah Chapter 8 is the best. And I think I've made it to Chapter...14.

Now...tis time to free motion some more on the baby quilt posted below...I worked on it last night and well while there is no sand under foot...it is relaxing too.

Brick Back Baby

The back of the baby quilt in the works...now lets...iron and sew. I tried laying out a pattern...ug...then tried the close eyes and pull from pile...unless the same patterns were touching...then I had to draw again...in the end...I only had to move 2pieces. Wow, are all of you quilters this crazy too?

Oh wait...2 large green polka dots on the same row...nope...I've got to make another move...

Working on the Barn

Progress was made today...with the sewing machine. The barn...the barn...the barn. Ah yeah...free motioned on some clouds...some rows of odd crops and well all this thing needs now is some edging. C.J. decided it is his...and a great place to drive a tractor:

Dear Son,

This quilt is still for Big Daddy.

Love,
Mom

It is going to fit in so well here at MeMe and Big's.

Lazy River equals no class...

Hubbie is installing the cellphone/clearwire system at these dorms that are scheduled to open this fall. Really?!!!? Who is going to go to class if they have a lazy river waiting on them? I won't mention what school this is...so your kids won't ask to go here ;) Though I am thinking I should go back and get my masters here?

New Crocs Already? ! ? ! ?

Is it really time for new crocs? We started off in the spring with a nice new navy...size 8/9...they started rubbing the top of C's foot a few weeks ago...so I bought some $2.50 Children's Place Brand Crocs...and his feet were broken out in 2 minutes...what kind of poison are they using? Let's go get some real Crocs today at Shoe Station...Navy size 10/11...SERIOUSLY? You are still 2 1/2 right?

Friday at the Lake

Oh wow...super quick...so friends invited us to the lake on Friday...practically hubbie's dream birthday wish. C.J. absolutely loved it...the boat...swimming on his own...flirting with Ashley pictured in front of him. His pick up line is ...he asks me to mess up his hair then he says "hey I have crazy hair" and laughs...and it works every time.
