New Picnic Table

So I am not sewing yet...it is just too nice outside...and we had not put C.J.'s picnic table that he got for Christmas from Nana and Papa together yet. He loved it all...from helping me "fix" it...to unstalling the umbrella...he is fasinated with umbrellas...he said "mama...how bout...uh...snack." "mama...how bout...uh...chick choc (chocolate milk)." "mama... how bout you sit dare." "uh...Averys (Avery, our dog)...need some snack...ok...share...here Averys." "Averys need nudder one."

I learned that under this umbrella is beautiful light for close ups and a great place to continue learning how to share.

Now what can I make him out of the box?

Mood for Knot Bags

I am in the mood to make Japanese Knot Bags...will post pictures later...after I make a few.

The Shack Book Finished

Oh and I finished reading The Shack on Sunday afternoon (after my nap)...Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Such a good read. And while it is a fiction...I believe that it was a real encounter. And while I told myself just keep reading...and go back and read it a second time to take it all in...I have decided NOT to read it again. Why? Because it is not the Bible and I do not want to keep running to it to answer my questions. Check it out...I do not read very often and I could not put it down. The imagery is magnificent...and will show you a new way to look at God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I won't say anymore...don't want to spoil it for the few of you who have not read it yet. Though email me if you want to talk about it! ! ! Also I have added a link to the website where you can read the 1st Chapter of the book for free...the link is on the right...almost at the bottom of the column.

Papa's B-Day Weekend

We spent the night with Papa and Nana on Saturday...
C.J.'s activities
-buttered rolls
-made Cars The Movie Valentines
-ate M&M cakepups
-cried/whaled at church Sunday morning
-got to ride on Jake's old bulldozer that was recovered from the crawl space at Gran Nana's house
-played soccer with Papa and Dada

Oh yeah he needs a haircut this week. Will you put that on my To Do List?...along with pay my speeding ticket.

Yellow Wonky Squares

On flicker I found the trick to making these crazy squares even...thus the last picture. This great cheater sewer, Sarah, might be just like me...always looking for a quick tip and easy craft (please see her blog at http://thehouseofkrom.blogspot.com/ ) She has a GREAT photo tutorial on how to make these on Flicker...the tutorial listing is on her blog on the left hand side. She makes super cute squares and quilts! So in a nut shell make all the squares relatively the same size and then cut the egdes off using ...whatever you have...I would love to buy one of those clear plastic squares she uses...but if they are out of my slim budget these days...I'll find one of C.J.'s books and go from there. (I have not gotten that far with the quilt yet...I am still just making squares...and have no idea what I want this quilt to look like yet.)

Hey this wonky square thing is easy. I am turning them out rather quickly...for a quilt. I made 6 this a.m. before we went out to trim the other half of the shrubs in the 68 degree weather. Man I Love the ATL weather.

Sewn Heart Cards

This a.m. before the started in the backyard...I had a wild hair. I needed to make a few cards...Thank You cards. So I decided to sew them rather than paint them (my usual). They turned out well and were SO quick...I'll do this again...and I used my free motion foot on my machine. It seems to be so handy now that I know how to use it!

Spring Cleaning

Oh yeah...points for me...I talked my hubbie into helping me trim up the backyard today (it helped that it is sunny and 65 degrees). I LOVE to work in the yard (he does not)...but behind our first fence (where Jake was stationed) I know there are snakes...I saw a little black one in the fall...and I am not going back there. The blackberries vines were taking over...and while they feed C.J. a 1/2 cup a day or more during the summer...my Neenaw always says where there are blackberries...there are snakes. There are still a million blackberry vines/bushes whatever they are...back there so perhaps after we clean up a bit more...I'll stake some to eat. So 1/2 the back yard down...and 1/2 to go! ! !

Wonky Log Cabin

today I might attempt to make one of these...a wonky log cabin square. perhaps to make into a potholder...or pillow...or a quilt.

The LOUD QUILT is complete!

YEAH! ! ! I did it! The LOUD QUILT is complete. I even decided to free motion the edges on and they turned out great! ! ! I kinda want to keep it...since it is my first free motion quilt and it doesn't look too bad on our couch. Friends...family...Who wants it? Do you love it? I'll save it for your birthday if you do...other wise...put in your color scheme order.

And I made it though Chapter 13 in The Shack!

PS The quilt is for sale in my ETSY shop as of March 9, 2009.

The LOUD Quilt is Quilted

Ok...so I free motioned swirls and loops and wiggles this a.m. until the LOUD Quilt was all motioned out. It has one boo boo on the back side a tucked area...so hey not bad for a first try with no lessons RIGHT! Perhaps I'll put the binding on in a bit while C.J. slumbers. And I'll also read chapter 11 in The Shack.

TTFN.

Ps. If you are just joining me the fabric designers for this quilt are Erin McMorris and Anna Maria Horner. And clicking on the pictures shows quite a bit more detail, if you are interested.

Laundry Room Make Over

I have been wanting to paint my laundry room. What color?...I don't know...really I want to paint it light khaki and then paint randomness all over...flowers...designs...etc...in all different colors...girlie graffiti like. With all of my shelving...it just looks like too much...for now. So in the mean time...on Monday...I kind of made it prettier...while C.J. sat in the highchair and colored. (Quilts in progress hang in the back corner...if you click on the picture you can see more of the free motion quilting...that is rocking along!)

What does this room need? Perhaps curtains to cover over the shelving in front of the washer and dryer? Maybe black and white curtains...then I can paint on the walls and it not look like such a mess? Help me! Oh yeah...this is a laundry room/appliance storage room. Maybe I should go upstairs and change the hall bathroom from French Black and White to Paul Frank...Julius the Monkey! ! !

Crayon Roll Up

1st attempt...ah...C.J. can use it until I make a better one...tomorrow ;)

The tutorial is from the blog Chocolate On My Cranium. Thank you for sharing this crayon roll tutorial!

http://chocolateonmycranium.blogspot.com/2008/04/crayon-roll-tutorial.html

For me working through the problem helps me understand the math...thus the tutorial is very good...I just have to make it first to know how to make a pretty one on the 2nd go around. I used a ponytail holder instead of a ribbon...and I will attach a fabric covered button to secure it...I'll show you on my next one.

Tag Who?

an Idea from Hello Cupcake http://www.hellocupcake7.blogspot.com/

The Rules:1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.2. Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.3. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.4. Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them. So here is my picture:

This was C.J.'s 1st Christmas way back in 2006. He was not even suppose to be born yet...he was not due until mid January 2007. He wanted out so bad he tried to climb out before way before Thanksgiving...and he did before way before Christmas. Let's recap...preterm labor started the 1st week in November...like put me on drugs and bedrest preterm labor...and he was born Dec 5th. So he was 20 days old on Christmas Day...5 1/2 weeks early. Man I was tired in this picture almost as tired as he was. And so glad he was at home with us healthy and always hungry. That cute little pearl necklace says "Mom" on one side and "Love" on the other...my sweet hubbie had just given that to me. I only wear it on the "Mom" side.

I tagged:
Aunt Spicy
Just a Girl
My Penny Pile
Muschara Monoblogs
Pampering Beki
The Robinson Family

All links are on the side bar. Thanks.

A Different Busy

We are busy today...away from the sewing machine...sitting on Big's tractor and playing golf. Eating M&M's and blueberries.

I read quite a bit of The Shack yesterday...up to the point they ask him to go to bed. I can't wait to read more at C.J.'s nap time.

Just washing dishes with Meme this morning.
